2014 has been moderately good year for Bangladesh film beside for first few months of the year, where film industry was much wounded by Political unrest in the country. However, the industry broke numerous records such as highest grossing film and the widest release. Let’s take a look at 10 most successful films of 2014.

1. AGNEE: Iftakar Chowdhury’s Agnee has been the biggest success story of 2014. The film broke every record possible including the biggest opening (12.5Mil.) and Highest grossing film (120M). The film was made with a budget of 25M and receiving overwhelming success, the makers announced it’s sequal Agnee 2 with budget over 80M, releasing in 2015.

2. HERO THE SUPERSTAR: Shakib Khan was always known as the king of the Box Office as an actor. The the actor haven’t failed to hit a jackpot with his first production venture Hero the Superstar. The film was made with a budget of 35M and ended it’s box office run with 100M.

3. KISTIMAAT: Ashiqur Rahman first directorial project was well received by the film universe. The film featured heartthrob Arifin Shuvoo and earned about 65M at the Box Office.

4. MOST WELCOME 2: Ananta Jalil’s action flick Most Welcome 2 might not be considered a success since the film’s budget was almost 90M, but the film left no stone untouched by collecting 50M from only 60 Screens. The film was also released in Japan. 

5. AMI SUDHU CHEYECHI TOMAY: Ami Sudhu Cheyechi Tomay was successful at Box Office. The film, co-produced with India has succeed in picking up 44M from Bangladesh and around 25M from India.

Kistimaat Releasing on October 4th 2014 (Eid)

Good News For All Movie Goers, Arefin Shuvo Starrer Kistimaat is releasing on October 4th, In the holy festival of Eid-Ul-Adha. According to Showbiz Tonight, The film will go on Censor Board Next Week and Will Release on Eid. Kistimaat is on it’s way of making history by becoming the first Bangladeshi film in history to be entirely made in Bangladesh. Shakira, Scorpions Coming To Dhaka; Live Concert in December

Shakira, the world famous Colombian singer will come to Dhaka, Bangladesh this winter in 2014 to perform in a concert. The famous German band Scorpion will also join her in this concert. Shwapan Chowdhury, the Chairman of Antar Showbiz has confirmed it on August 1, 2014.Shakira, who has been a world famous singer and dancer, is going to be rock Bangladesh soon with her melodious pop songs. She has appeared in the last 3 World Cup, singing her inspirational songs for the Football lovers around the world. So, she is going to sing My hips don’t lie, Waka Waka, La la la la la and many more of her famous songs.  Shakira came to Bangladesh a few years ago. She visited some districts in Bangladesh in 2008. She is a popular artist across the country for her pop songs. The young generation likes singers like her, who can rock the whole nation. Shwapan Chowdhury says, “We are going to arrange a big international concert this winter. But, nothing is finalized yet. We will select the venue and other matters within this month of August, 2014. So, we hope, you will get a winter gig this year! Besides, an event of the Miss World 2014 may also be held in Bangladesh.” Shakira’s concert will be telecasted by a number of television channels around the world. Hero The Superstar Review: JUST FOR FUN

Hero The Superstar is one of the 4 releases this Eid but despite having a tough competition, The film was the center of all attention. This Review will highlight the good and bad of Shakib Khan’s first production venture Hero The Superstar.

The film revolves around Hero; a ruthless Rich young man who is always involved in all wrong things. Figthing, Killing and much more but Later Hero is seen as a gentle Software Engineer who falls in love with Priya (Apu Biswas); who happens to be the younger sister of Salma Khan; a local rowdy. Salman Khan plan to kill him, but things don’t go as planned. Salma Khan witnesses the killing of a senior police official by Hira, only to return home in complete shock and fear. Puzzled at the sight of the murder, Salma Khan sends her entourage to investigate about Hira. Meanwhile, a CBI officer(Shiba Shanu) comes barging into Salma Khan’s residence and takes her into custody, where she is told that Hira is wanted for the murder of several rowdies much to the astonishment of everybody. CBI Arrests Hero but at the same moment Hero lookalike attacks Misha Shaodagor and everyone gets astonished; They later finds out Hero (The Antagonist) have a twin brother (The Protagonist). Later Priya’s cousin Doshani (Eamin Haque Bobby) tells them the whole Story behind it.

The film’s storyline is very much similer to telegu film “Rebel”; which makes the movie less interesting. Shakib Khan should’ve started his career as producer with an original story or he could’ve bought the remake rights from original film but instead he stole the whole storyline. Another advice to Shakib Khan is that instead of making Bodiul Alam Khokon the director of his every film, he should experiment with much better directors like Iftakar Chowdhury, Aashiqur Rahman and many other young generation directors. The film had decent music; A Suggestion to Shakib Khan would be to use more young generation singers.

Despite many flaws, This is one of Shakib Khan’s best film. His effort as producer and actor is visible in the movie. Basically the success of the film is totally on Shakib Khan.

Overall, The film is a complete entertainment but do not expect any uniqueness in the film. The film is strictly meant for entertainment and nothing else.

A Bangladeshi Scientist Dr. Moin Khan invents a very valuable madicine to cure cancer; When the news goes viral An Interntional Mafia Organization tries to get the formula. The Mafia spends billions of dollars to steal the formula but An Honest Inspector Asaduzzaman Khan Aryan becomes a hurdle in their way. The film has a lot of flaws such as weak VFX Work, screen presence, and Choreography. But this must be noted; Most Welcome 2 is Ananta Jalil’s best movie till now. The film is full of entertainment and comedy. The film is filled with weird action sequences; such as a scene where he blows up Lockheed Martin with just a simple bullet.The problem about his films are that every film he did till now have the exact same story; literally. In every film there is a Villain who tries to harm him or barsha and he comes in the way and defeat them. But after all, His films are pulling more audience towards Bangladeshi Films. If you only want entertainment, Most Welcome 2 is the film for you. The songs are average. Most Welcome 2 is only intended for immediate entertainment, The film doesn’t really create any emotional affects. One Time Watch.

Jaaz Multimedia to Launch First Bangladeshi Movie Channel

Bangladesh’s biggest production house Jaaz Multimedia has announced it’s plan to launch first fully film dedicated channel in Bangladesh. According to the Chairman Abdul Aziz, Jaaz Multimedia is planning to launch the channel by 2016, The channel will be simply called “JAAZ”. Abdul Aziz also said, The channel will only broacast quality content and will not only broadcast Jaaz Multimedia films but any quality film content. This decision came due to recent revival of Bangladeshi Film Industry and more audiences are getting interested in Bangladeshi Films so in order to keep them updated, A Movie Channel is necessary.

“One Way” Teaser Released : Anisur Rahman Milon, Bappy Chowdhury, Eamin Haque Bobby

Iftakar Chowdhury’s much anticipated crime thriller “One Way” first look has been released. The teaser was released on July 1 2014 on Youtube. The teaser features the lead actors; Anisur Rahman Milon, Eamin Haque Bobby and Bappy Chowdhury.

Anisur Rahman Milon is back again after Dehorokkhi: The Bodyguard where for the first time he played a villain role and won many praises for his performance. His role is this film look slightly similer to Dehorkkhi’s (In a good way). He suits the role as a conman.

 

Eamin Haque Bobby

Eamin Haque Bobby is seen in a different avatar in this film. She played a romantic heroine in all her previous films, it is hard to judge her performance only by the teaser but her screen presence looks good. If she can act well then she can prove to be a real positive point for the film because she got the talent and abilities to play the role of an action lady.

 

Bappy Chowdhury

Although Bappy Chowdhury has done many action films before, this film can prove to be a turning point for him becuase most of his previous films lacked quality that audiences look for. He already knows how to tackle action sequences and his presence in the film will spice up the action scenes.

Takaata Movie Review: A Pure Entertainer

This year’s one of the most anticipated film “Tarkaata” was released yesterday across Bangladeshi Theaters, The film was already high on expectations even before release, and after release, I must say, Tarkaata took Bangladeshi Cinema to the next level.

Short Review:  The opening scene of the film was exciting and thrilling. The film opens with a dazzling entry of Ibrahim (portrayed by Arefin Shuvo); a very ferocious underworld gangster with catchy Background score. As Arefin Shuvo made an entry on the film, the crowd in the theaters just went crazy, shouting, screaming, all of them seem to be trapped in Arefin Shuvo’s charm. 

Plot Review: The plot is not unique from any other crime thrillers. The film focuses on the emergence of a small town boy to a powerful gangster, but the presentation was unique. Director Mohammad Mostofa Kamal Raj added a new flavor to an old storyline. “Tarkaata” revolves around Ibrahim; A very charming, fun loving and whimsical person but later turns into a cruel gangster of the underworld. Arefin Shuvo’s performance was as good as his previous ones. Mim; a singer and love interest of Ibrahim (Arefin Shuvo). Mim’s screen presence was brilliant. From Costume to Acting Skills, for a moment, everything seemed real. Mim has undoubtedly given her best performance so far in Tarkaata. Moushumi played the role of Ibrahim’s elder sister; She plays a widow who lives with her brother Ibrahim; a small happy family. Moushumi fits the role perfectly. There were some flaws on her acting but overall Her role is very vital for the storyline and she plays it quite perfectly. Biggest surprise of the film was the antogonists; Ejajul Islam and Faruque Ahmed. For my entire life I’ve seen them playing comic roles in Movies and TV, but they’ve stunned the audience with their diverse acting skills, These two were the main attraction of the film. Faruq Ahmed’s evil look and Ejajul Islam’s dialouge delivery. A Pure Entertainment Finally, I would like to give a standing ovation to Mr. Mostofa Kamal Raj; the director of the film, He has put together a perfect crime thriller. The music composed by Arifin Rumey is ear soothing and thrilling at the same time, Hats off. Background score was mindblowing. Cinematography was the most positive part of the film, Khayer Khondokar; Cinematographer of Tarkaata has given the film a new look. The film deserves a 

Official Trailer Released for ‘Tarkata’ : Arefin Shuvo takes the center stage

The trailer of highly-anticipated action film “Tarkata” has finally been unveiled. The two-minute, 59- seconds long trailer has Arefin Shuvo once again proving his ability and talent as an actor. The trailer was  The trailer; narrated by Ejajul Islam is mind blowing. With the Trailer Arefin Shuvo takes the center stage and Mim Bidya Sinha Saha and Moushumi plays a vital role. The trailer also featues Ejajul Islam, Faruq Ahmed, Hasan Masud and Ahmed Sharif.

The visually stunning trailer is one of its kind in emerging Bangladeshi cinema. The trailer opens with Narrator saying “Je Rastay Ibrahim Chole..That is one way road [The path Ibrahim walks in is an one way road]. A glimpse of Tarkata’s Item Song Ghagra was also seen in the trailer. Faruq Ahmed plays the antagonist in the film.

Tarkata have been directed by Mohammad Mostofa Kamal Raj and Produced by Shukla Banik under the Banner of Ping Pong Entertainment. Producers made sure that the film gets its best opening by giving the distribution rights to Bangladesh’s biggest production house Jaaz Multimedia.
